Bachelor's programmes in the Netherlands are offered under two main headings, the Bachelor of Science (BSc) and the Bachelor of Arts (BA), and usually take 3 years. Available in a wide range of fields such as the social sciences, natural sciences, law, engineering and medicine, these programmes give students not only a solid academic and scientific foundation but also practical, professional skills that support their career plans after graduation. With more than 2,000 Bachelor's and postgraduate programmes, the vast majority taught in English, the Netherlands is one of the most popular destinations for international students.

At Dutch universities the academic year begins in September with the autumn semester, while the spring semester runs from February to June. Application and admission requirements differ between research universities and universities of applied sciences. Students from Turkey applying to research universities are generally expected to have a grade average of 80 or above, an IB Diploma or at least 4 completed AP courses. Students who do not meet these requirements are advised to apply after completing at least 1 year of study at a university in Turkey. Universities of applied sciences, on the other hand, can in most cases accept applications directly after high school.
