Ms Birsen and I started working on my application to German universities at the end of 11th grade. She is a true professional in this field. I graduated from İELEV Anadolu Lisesi (a Turkish Anatolian high school) in 2023. This year I enrolled in the Industrial Design programme at HTW Berlin University of Applied Sciences. Prof. Türkyılmaz and I started working together in 11th grade. Since application and admission work differently for design programmes in Germany, I got exactly the support I needed during the application process. I'm Ceyda Gedar, a graduate of the Austrian High School (Avusturya Lisesi) in Istanbul. I worked with Prof. Türkyılmaz for 3 years. Hello, I am the mother of Hakan Baştürk. We first came to DBT Danışmanlık in 2021, when we started researching university options for my son. In 2017, when my daughter Yaz was in the preparatory year at the German High School, our paths crossed with DBT Danışmanlık on the recommendation of a friend whose daughter they had previously placed at the Technical University of Munich. We started out wanting German support, so that her language would be strong from the very beginning. Birsen took Yaz to her heart almost as if she were her own daughter. My daughter Ece Kingir is studying medicine in Hamburg. We managed the whole journey to her enrolling in medicine, the hardest degree to get into in Germany, under our teacher's guidance. She was accepted onto the prep programme at the university in Hamburg and studied there. Ms Birsen writes a separate application letter tailored to each university you apply to, and these make a real difference in the assessments. When I decided at the start of Year 12 that I wanted to study medicine in Germany, I tried to find out about the application processes of German universities on my own. Hello, I'm Emirhan. I graduated from the German High School in 2016. Graduates of our school usually go to Germany, but I decided to stay in Turkey and studied Genetics at Koç University for a year. However, the university was lacking as far as its Genetics department was concerned, and with food and other expenses it was becoming really expensive. I decided to go to Germany, which had already been on my mind, and I turned to Birsen. Although I came to her a little later than I should have, and despite all sorts of setbacks caused by the university and by uni-assist, I was accepted onto the same subject at the Technical University of Munich. Without Birsen, I most likely would not have overcome these problems, because when something goes wrong it is almost impossible to reach the universities or the relevant institutions by email or phone, and Birsen made that communication possible for us. I had always dreamed of studying medicine, but because I was so afraid of not getting into medicine in Germany, I started preparing for the YGS/LYS (Turkey's national university entrance exams) in Year 11. Still, my dream had always been to study medicine in Europe so that I could work as a doctor anywhere in Europe, and indeed the world. Dear parents and dear students, I am a student who received an offer from the Faculty of Law at Heidelberg University, one of the best universities in Germany, with Ms Birsen's guidance. Please take a few minutes to read this, because afterwards you will be making what may be the most important decision of your life. We first got to know Birsen when I was still at middle school and she placed my older sister at the Faculty of Medicine at Heidelberg University. Later, in my final year of high school, when I was unsure about Germany, she was the one who convinced and encouraged me. I know how frightening, stressful and long the adventure you are about to start can seem; I was there too. We met Birsen in the final year of my son, who was at the German High School. She quickly assessed my son's gaps in the language and his overall situation and got us moving. When my son Umut Demirdeşen was in his third year at the Austrian High School, I started looking into university education abroad. Among the many consultancies online, I came across Ms Birsen. Hello. It was the winter of 2005. It was the last year of my university studies and I was entering my final semester. In half a semester I would graduate. I still hadn't decided what to do, and thinking I might get some ideas, I had come to Istanbul to visit education consultancies and get information from experienced people. It was the semester break and I had about a month. Going from one agency to another, there was hardly a place in and around Taksim I hadn't been to. At a point where I had almost given up hope, tired and worn out, I thought I would go into one last education agency, get one last bit of information and then go home and rest. In this last place too, just like the others, there were nothing but recommendations and programmes for studying in America and Britain. But I didn't want to study in America or Britain; I was set on Europe. Just as I was thinking this wasn't going to work out and that I had better finish university and do my military service, a lady walked in. I remember it as if it were yesterday. Mr Ali said to me: “Mr Erman, I believe you wanted information about studying in Europe. Ms Birsen is head of the German department at Marmara University and knows all about studying in Germany.” Of course, my tiredness vanished in an instant, and we immediately started talking so I could get information from Ms Birsen. She explained everything I needed one by one and gave me detailed information about what kind of programme it was. That is where the process began. The rest came with time. In Germany I had a lot of difficulties, especially with residence and visa matters, but Birsen was always by my side and never held back her support. Thanks to her, I received an excellent education, improved my foreign languages, and I am now working in a job where I use all the languages and subjects I learned during my MBA. I cannot thank Birsen enough. As long as there are people like her, it is and will remain possible for young people from Turkey to broaden their horizons, see new places, people and cultures, and at the same time develop the talents they already have.

I graduated from the German High School in 2017. I was making the application process into a much bigger thing than it was. I saw many of my friends who didn't use a consultant make mistakes and get stressed because of them, and some of them didn't get into the university they wanted because of those mistakes. I was stressed throughout the process too, but every time, Ms Birsen reminded me that there was no problem at all. Now that most of the process is behind me, looking back I can see that Ms Birsen was in fact right at every step. Everything went just as she had predicted. That is why, while everyone else was struggling to find accommodation, the process was not difficult at all for me. I graduated from Bodrum Marmara College in 2016. I first decided to study in Germany in the middle of Year 12. At that time my German was at A2 level and there was only a month left before the YGS exam; later, when I raised the idea with the administrators and teachers at my school, I met with negative comments. About a week later, my mother met Ms Birsen. We then assessed my situation, and I learned that I could study in Germany by having my YGS/LYS results recognised. After that, we waited until the exam results came out. I am now at a world-ranked university, I am happy, and I thank Birsen with all my heart.

When my daughter Alara Su Aras decided in 2015 to study at university in Germany, we did some research of our own and saw that we couldn't manage it by ourselves. On the recommendation of a close friend, we met Ms Birsen and decided to continue this journey together. It was a very hard road for us, because my daughter had no German and we started everything from scratch. Ms Birsen was there for us 24/7; whenever we needed information we could always call her, and she always reassured us. What impressed us greatly was that she travelled abroad to visit my daughter and get to know her. That was a huge source of motivation for us. After a tough two and a half years, my daughter was enrolled at TU Berlin to study Industrial Engineering. I want to say in all sincerity that this really happened thanks to Ms Birsen's hard work. After three months of thinking I could do everything myself, at a moment when I had completely lost hope, I met Ms Birsen, and it was as if I had come out of the darkness into the light again. In February 2016 you travelled with me from Istanbul to Germany and, even though it was exhausting, took me to the universities in Munich, Aachen, Berlin and Hamburg and helped me get information about them; this definitely played a huge part in my choice of university. Hello, I'm Selin. With Birsen's guidance, I was accepted to study Pharmacy at the University of Würzburg. After my esteemed teacher Birsen had placed two of my cousins at Heidelberg University, one of the best universities in Germany, I turned to her for advice on studying in Germany when I reached Year 12 and felt it was my turn. Through my cousins I had seen how difficult it is to apply to German universities with YGS/LYS results, and since I knew how much Birsen had supported them and that she had done everything she could for them, I felt at ease. At our very first meeting she explained what lay ahead of me and the steps I needed to follow, and made me feel that I was not alone in this difficult process.
