German public universities have opened applications for English-taught Master's programmes for 2027. The application period is now officially under way for Bachelor's graduates and final-year students who want to earn a Master's degree from a German public university – without speaking German, without paying tuition fees, and within one of the world's strongest engineering and science ecosystems. DBT Danışmanlık is managing English-taught Master's applications for the 2027 intake; you can leave your details using the form below or on our application page.
What has opened, and what are the deadlines?
- Summer semester 2027 (starting in April): Applications are open, with a general deadline of 15 January 2027. Only a limited number of English-taught programmes admit students for the summer semester, so it pays to act early.
- Winter semester 2027/28 (starting in October): University portals open between December 2026 and January 2027. RWTH Aachen accepts applications from non-EU candidates until 1 March, TU München until 31 May for most programmes, and universities that use uni-assist until 15 July 2027.
- APS certificate: Mandatory for every application submitted from Turkey; the process takes 4–8 weeks. To be ready for October 2027, you should apply this autumn.
Who can apply?
Candidates who have graduated from, or are in the final year of, a Bachelor's degree at a university in Turkey, whose subject matches the target programme, and who can prove their English proficiency with IELTS 6.5 / TOEFL iBT 88–95 (or studied their Bachelor's in English). Your grade point average should be 2.5 or better once converted to the German system; on the 4-point scale, roughly 2.8 or above is sufficient for most programmes. German is not an admission requirement.
Which subjects are available?
The DAAD database lists nearly 2,000 English-taught Master's programmes. The fields our students apply to most are: computer science, data science and artificial intelligence (TUM, RWTH, TU Berlin); mechanical and automotive engineering and robotics (RWTH, KIT, TU Darmstadt, Stuttgart); electrical and electronic engineering and communications (Stuttgart, TU Darmstadt, Bremen); energy, environment and sustainability (Freiburg, Oldenburg); business, economics and finance (TUM, Mannheim, Bonn); life sciences and biotechnology (Heidelberg, LMU); architecture and urban planning (TU Berlin, Stuttgart); and international relations and public policy (Hertie, Freiburg, Konstanz). Universities of applied sciences (TH Köln, Hochschule München, HTW Berlin) are a strong second option, with small classes and a compulsory industry internship.
Costs
Master's programmes at public universities are tuition-free; you only pay the semester contribution (€150–400, which in most cities includes public transport). The exceptions are Baden-Württemberg (€1,500 per semester) and TUM's programme-specific fees for non-EU students. For the visa you need a blocked account holding €11,904 per year (2026 amount); this money is paid back to you at €992 a month. Monthly living costs range from €850 to €1,300 depending on the city, and students may work 140 full days a year. After graduation you are granted an 18-month residence permit to look for work.
